Refreshed and Inspired

Hey y’all,
Well, we’re finally back from an unprecedented 2 week vacation. Not one single musical note was struck! Now, we’re happy to be back and ready to get rockin’. We have a new booking agent, Killer Booking Agency, ready to assist us in getting out there more. We laid low this past school year to be more available to our children who were both graduating from there schools. We’re happy and proud to say they both made it and are heading on to high school and college in the Fall. So with that relief, we can resume our regularly scheduled programing of playing shows around this beautiful planet we live on. Starting off, we have some shows coming up starting August 1. We’ll be playing these shows as a duo; just me and Russ…or possibly as a trio with our dear friend Janson Lohmeyer. We’ll keep y’all posted on that. Either way, we are looking forward to them! BUT, before those gigs, it looks like I’m going to go up to Floyd, VA to sit in with my long time friend Jackson Browne at Floyd Fest. Though he’s guested with us on my last album, Lighthouse (on “Avenue of the Indians”), and with the Continental Drifters, my band, as well as a karaoke night with Vicki Peterson and I on Bourbon Street (Yep!), I’ve never actually joined him on stage with HIS band! All these years…seems hard to believe, and yet….not. Our friendship didn’t start on a musical note, but a family note, so we just never seemed to get to the music part until recently.
Russ just came in to tell me Gretna Fest 2012 just confirmed us playing October 5! Fun!! It’s about time! That’s right down the levee from our post-Katrina home. Yea!  And, Beatle Fest right here in town on July 21 at House of Blues.  Distant cousin Marc Broussard, Jim Lockwood, Rockin Dopsie, Tim Laughlin, and others will be on the bill singing Beatles songs with the Topcats as the killer backing band.

Alright, that’s it for now.  Here’s to more music, more connecting, more love.

When your Killers get going, tell them to book you up for a show in Milwaukee. I’ve missed you since you came up our way 2 years ago (even if you were 100+ miles away from Milwaukee). I’ll even settle for a Chicago show, as long as it’s not downtown- driving and parking there is too much of a hassle. But my first choice is Milwaukee- we’ll even find a way to get you to the bronze Fonzie…

    Hi Susan!
I hope I get to talk to you at Gretna Fest. I am from Decatur, Illinois & we saw “The Cowsills” at the Springfield State Fair 1970 (barry crushing!)You were Suzie then & sooo adorable. Still have an autograph(+ticket) from ALL of your family signed from that day. Even quirkier, Bill was playing in one of my friends lounges in 1978, showed him the autograph, he signed it again for me! We had a great time! Great to see you on treme! Would love to give you the autograph. Been in cedar chest for 40 yrs! What stage will you be on?
Though far from the Cowsill music, I do luv your music!!! Debbie Sonnier

    Hi Debbie,
Thank you so much writing. Gretna Fest reneged on their offer for us to play unfortunately. Maybe next year. You must have missed when the Cowsills played a show in town a couple years ago at Carrollton Station? I’d love to see the ticket stub. Too cool that you saved that all these years! The next show we have in the area is at Southport Hall January 12, playing for the Verdigras Ball (open to the public). It’s not the Cowsills, I know, but I promise we’ll play a Cowsills song for you.
    Merry Christmas!
    Love,
    Susan

Hi Nemo. Sorry for the delay with my response. We were bombarded by spam, and we finally got some help with it to pull the real messages out for me to see.
The agent within the agency that was representing us was recently fired b/c he was doing nothing for us, or a few other bands on the roster. As of 3 weeks ago, we have the owner of the company booking us! She’s rocking it already! Midwest will probably be in the Summer for us touring. Hopefully back at the concert series in Osh Kosh, or perhaps Summerfest? Check in on the website late Spring/early Summer for updates. We haven’t played Chicago proper in a very long time. Most likely we’d play Berwyn at Fitzgerald’s since that’s kind of a home away from home club.
Thanks for writing! I hope to see you this Summer.
    Merry Christmas!
    Love,
    Susan
