1. If you were not a musician what would you want to be when you grow up?
A meteorologist.
2. What is your favorite color?
The color of money.
3. At what age did you become interested in being a musician and what/when was your first professional gig?
Like Jack, I was indoctrinated into professional music through our family involvement with the New Orleans traditional-jazz revival ensemble The New Leviathan Oriental Fox-trot Orchestra. Our dad has played trombone with the group since before we were born, so as soon as we could talk, we were at gigs helping sell tapes and vinyl. By our early teens, we were full-time members, lending our violin and cello services.
4. What is your favorite movie of all time… (your all time that is)?
Twister. See question 1.
5. How many different bands have you played in?
Waaaaaaaaayyy too many to count.
6. What is your hobby?
My favorite hobby (outside music, which I sometimes get paid for) is most definitely pool. Not the kind for swimming (or betting), but the one with sticks and balls.
7. At what age do you plan to hang up your instrument (if any) and what is your retirement plan?
I never plan to hang up my instrument(s), so no retirement plans as such. However, I plan to spend my advanced years completely off the grid in the wilderness, so I better get busy with being a rockstar.
8. What are 3 of your favorite albums from childhood? Let’s say the time until you graduated high school.
My favorite albums through high school (which wasn’t too long ago) would be, in no particular order: Radiohead’s ‘The Bends’, The Beatles’ ‘White Album’, and Velvet Underground’s ‘Velvet Underground & Nico’.
9. How and why did you start playing music?
I don’t remember starting to play music– we were fortunate that there were always lonely instruments lying around, waiting to be plucked, bowed, or blown into. Music happened for my brother and me pretty organically. I started taking proper violin lessons in 5th grade or so, and have taken it relatively seriously ever since. It finally clicked at about age 13 when I started making money doing it that this music thing ain’t such a bad idea.
10. 3 things you love about New Orleans?
EASY! The food, the music, THE SAINTS! WHO DAT!
